Historical Pedigree: Ch. Rachael

Born in 1937 at the very early stages of breed development it is significant that Rachael achieved her championship, the first American prick ear Norwich to do so. Mrs. Randolph's foundation bitch, she had an inbreeding coefficient of only 1%. Note the mixed ear carriage in her pedigree. She had two littermates and one full sibling, none of which earned titles. Of the 14 half siblings on her sire's side and one on her dam's side, there were no champions. She was bred only one time, to Ch. Victor, producing only one puppy who did not achieve her championship. Rachael was the 1st American prick ear champion earning her title in 1939 and won Best Of Breed at Westminster in 1940. Rachael’s photograph for many years was used by the American Norwich Terrier Club as the type of prick-ear the nearest to the ideal.
