Historical Pedigree: Ch. Badgewood The Huntress

Bred by Betty Fell in 1975 with an inbreeding coefficient of 25%, Huntress was reportedly Betty's favorite Norfolk. She won the National Specialty two years in a row, 1977 and ’78. Although her one littermate did not earn a title, two of her three full siblings did. Seven of her 28 half siblings on her sire's side earned their championship, the majority of them carrying the Max-Well prefix. The one half sibling on her dam's side earned her championship. Huntress was sadly reported by her handler Jack Simm as never having been bred. From Frank Rogers: I remember it was a warm sunny day at Huntington Valley in Ambler, PA on June 3rd, 1978 and this year it was a record breaking Specialty entry of 94, set new standards for the Breed. Jim Reynolds of Ottawa, Canada was our Judge. Mr. Reynolds, as you all probably have had the privilege of having Jim go over your Norfolk. He is enthusiastic about quality as well as quantity, and the vast amount of spectators ringside echoed his sentiment.
To quote Mr. Reynolds, in the Specials Class of his Best of Breed, the  Fell’s homebred DE Ch. Badgewood The Huntress (her encore performance BOB 1977 Specialty), Mr. Reynolds stated “ She represents the total package of an honest working terrier. There were many alternate choices available to me, and any of these would have been worthy of the honor. But, no matter where I looked I found that she fulfilled my idea of a working Norwich.” The Huntress bore him out later by taking Group 2.
